Ultherapy Procedure Details
Ultherapy is performed in-office and patients may select from topical anesthetics to self-administered nitrous oxide to make the procedure more comfortable. Treatment ranges from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the treatment area and size. To begin, the Ultherapy specialist will position the Ultherapy handpiece over the treatment area. The handpiece projects images from underneath the skin, allowing the specialist to “see” the deepest levels of the skin tissue that need to be treated, ensuring precise treatment. The handpiece then gently delivers ultrasound heat energy to these tissues, stimulating the production of fresh, new collagen. The process is repeated until all targeted tissue has been treated.
Collagen production happens gradually. This means the results of Ultherapy (tighter, lifted, smoother skin) will become visible over time (approximately two to three months after treatment).
What to Expect After Ultherapy
One of the advantages of Ultherapy is that it does not require significant downtime. Patients can return to work and resume normal activities immediately after treatment. Minor side effects, including swelling, tenderness and soreness are normal and should subside quickly.
