Facelift:

Facelift surgery has been performed for many years and is specially designed to remove excess fat, tighten the facial muscles and remove droopy skin around the face and neck. While the facelift reverses many signs of aging, there are certain things a facelift alone cannot change. Patients often decide to combine facelift surgery with other facial procedures for a more refined, finished
look: filler and Botox® injections for frown lines in the forehead, fat transfer to soften nasal labial folds, eyelid surgery for
excess folds, wrinkles and fat pockets below the eyes, peels and/or Laser Resurfacing to refresh tired, wrinkled skin.

WHERE IS THE SURGERY PERFORMED?

Dr. Maloney will perform the surgery in a fully licensed surgery center with board certified anesthesiologists.

I'M READY! WHERE DO I BEGIN?

When planning your facelift surgery, Dr. Maloney will fully evaluate your face including bone structure, muscle placement and skin type. Every facelift procedure is individualized according to your goals and your one of a kind face! Be honest with Dr. Maloney when discussing your expectations, so he can determine if your desired look can be realistically achieved. As with any surgical procedure, we must be informed of your medical history, any medications you are taking and if you have had any previous facial
surgeries.

HOW IS A FACELIFT PERFORMED?

When planning your facelift surgery, Dr. Maloney recognizes the importance of preserving hair lines and camouflaging facelift incisions. He will place the incision around the delicate curves of the ears for maximum benefit. As part of the facelift, jaw lines may be sculpted with liposuction and the underlying muscles tightened. Any excess skin or fat will be gently removed prior to completion of the face lift. If fat needs to be removed from the lower face, an incision will be made underneath the chin in its natural crease line. By placing all incisions in the face's natural creases, scars are easier to conceal.

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER SURGERY?

It is important for you to follow your doctor's instructions before and after surgery as this will assist you in a faster recovery. You should be up and around within a week and most patients return to work in two weeks. We can advise you on post-operative camouflage methods such as make-up to cover any bruising and swelling. Getting back to normal will take time. Be patient. It
may take up to six months for you to see the full outcome of surgery.

HOW WILL I LOOK AFTER SURGERY?

Patients are excited when they are able to finally see the face they anticipated. Although a facelift can turn back time, it cannot stop it. Even though your face will continue to age, you will still appreciate the results of the procedure many years from now!
